The vibe score sums up what residents say about living under their HOA. It reflects how strict the rules are, how the HOA treats people, and whether residents feel left alone at home.

Residents tell us how strict and how toxic their HOA is. These are two different metrics that have a combined effect on the overall rating. We give toxicity more weight because hostile treatment can make daily life miserable even when an HOA does not have many rules.
Strictness
How many rules residents live with, and how hard the HOA enforces them.
Toxicity
How often residents face hostility, retaliation, selective enforcement, or legal threats.
